After being blocked for a year, Twitter—now known as X—is now again completely accessible in Pakistan. The social media site is accessible online and on mobile devices without the need for VPN applications.
However, A few hours after midnight in Pakistan, reports about X being completely accessible in Pakistan began to circulate. PTA has now formally verified that the social media app is no longer restricted.
After Months of state-imposed restrictions that started soon after the general elections in February 2024 have come to an end with the ruling. Ever since then, Millions of Pakistanis were not able to access the site without the use of VPN.
The event occurred soon after missile attacks in parts of Bahawalpur and Muzaffarabad. This escalated the conflict between India and Pakistan. Pakistan retaliated by shooting down many Indian fighter jets for their attack on the nation.
After almost a year of restricted access, a number of users came to the site to express that they were able to view X without the need of a VPN, which was a huge change. However, Authorities have not confirmed that the ban has been lifted. This move has sparked concerns about the platform’s standing in Pakistan.
