NCCIA Busted Scam Call Center in Islamabad

During a significant search in Islamabad’s G-10 Markaz on Sunday, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) demolished a scam call center and took more than 65 people into custody for their roles in online fraud schemes.

Five foreign nationals and over 60 Pakistani men and women were arrested as a result of the raid on scam call center, according to an official NCCIA spokeswoman. The people in question are suspected of managing a fraudulent call center which utilized bogus internet investment along with offers of employment to draw in victims.

Suspects were arrested after a planned raid in Sardar Plaza. The plaza is where the call center had been operating under the pretense of a genuine company,

The operation employed a multi-tiered fraud structure, according to preliminary investigations. Frontline operatives targeted innocent individuals on social media networks which includes Facebook, WhatsApp, as well as Telegram, frequently impersonating industry officials.

Cash rewards were promised to victims in return for task-based employment or modest investments. Back-end teams along with monetary handlers, some of whom were allegedly stationed in foreign countries, made use of the data from those encounters in order to extort funds, regularly via bitcoin channels.

Digital devices, financial documents, and communication logs that were purportedly utilized to carry out the scam were found by law enforcement during the raid. NCCIA has stated that it will take legal action against anybody involved in the operation, including those who provide logistical support, security, or cover.

The raid fits into NCCIA’s larger plan to fight online fraud. More than 150 suspects, including numerous foreign nationals, have been arrested as a result of recent operations under the “Grey Campaign,” which have closed more than a dozen unlawful call centers across the country.

NCCIA officials encouraged people to report suspected internet activity through official channels and cautioned the public to be on the lookout for such frauds.
