Android 9.0 Pie is available, here is everything you need to know

Google has announced the arrival of the final version of Android 9.0. This version is called Pie. As a reminder, Google has lifted the veil on Android Pie a few months ago and has distributed several beta versions since.

Android Pie is available today for Google smartphones, namely Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. It will be necessary to wait the next weeks or the next months for the manufacturers. Some of them say that Android Pie will not arrive until 2019 for the less fortunate.

Android 9.0 Pie is official, and is already being rolled out, on Pixel range phones of course and a few other models by fall. One of the major points of this new update is its use of Google Artificial Intelligence to dynamically optimize your phone other than that it has design changes, helpful shortcuts as well.

The first is the “Adaptive battery”, which will understand which applications you like to use the most to allocate more resources automatically. The second is Adaptive Brightness, which will once again spot your favorite screen brightness settings for automatic adjustment.

At the beginning, you will simply have to re-adjust your brightness according to your environment when it does not suit you; after that, the phone will understand itself.

The system navigation by gestures is now fully included with Android 9.0 Pie. It is based on a small “pill” at the bottom of your phone that you can go up, slide to the side or where you can simply press to reach the home. You can pen your current applications or return to your previous action.

Also, the OnePlus 6, Essential Phone, Nokia 7 Plus, Oppo R15 Pro, Sony Xperia XZ2, Vivo X21, Vivo X21UD and Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S have participated in the beta program of Android Pie in recent weeks. Essential has already unveiled and offers the update today. Other manufacturers should follow “quickly”. But for others, like Samsung, you have to be patient.
