Under the auspices of the International Engineering Alliance (IEA), the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has obtained a six-year extension in its full membership of the International Professional Engineers Agreement (IPEA), which significantly increases the international mobility and recognition of Pakistani engineers.
Engr. Dr. Sarosh Lodhi, Senior Vice Chairman, led PEC at the conference. The official announcement was made during IEAM 2025, which was held in Mexico from June 8 to June13.
An international agreement known as IPEA aims to make it less difficult for participating countries to acknowledge seasoned professional engineers within the nations.
Engineers that are registered with PEC as International Professional Engineers (IntPE-PAK) will continue to be acknowledged properly in all IPEA countries that participate with this extension, negating the need for additional evaluation.
With this breakthrough, Pakistan has demonstrated its continued adherence to international engineering standards, laws, and practices.
Right after a meticulous peer-review strategy, Pakistan has become the first ever country to be awarded full IPEA membership in June 2018.
Since then, PEC has put in place a strong procedure to grant competent engineers the IntPE title, improving their reputation and job opportunities overseas.
PEC’s dedication to maintaining global best practices in engineering education, professional growth, and ethics is recognized by the six-year extension.
The chairman of PEC, Engineer Waseem Nazir, described the extension as a historic accomplishment for Pakistan’s engineering community. He said:
“This renewal reaffirms the international community’s trust in PEC’s regulatory framework and the professional competence of our Engineers.
It opens greater opportunities for Pakistani Engineers to contribute towards global projects and strengthens Pakistan’s footprint in the international Engineering landscape.”
PEC hopes to increase outreach to engineering professionals, foster global cooperation, and streamline the registration process for IntPE applicants with this renewed mandate.
The extension demonstrates Pakistan’s expanding participation in the international engineering community in addition to raising the profile of Pakistani engineers worldwide.
