On Saturday, US President Donald Trump said that India and Pakistan, both have agreed to a ceasefire, however none of the two countries has confirmed the arrangement.

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said in a post on X. He resounded with Mr Trump’s tweet on ceasefire and said:

“Pakistan has always strived for peace and security in the region, without compromising on its sovereignty and territorial integrity!”

In another X post, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that both India and Pakistan have also agreed to “start talks on a broad set of issues at a neutral site”.

Mr Rubio and US Vice-President J.D. Vance made contact with senior officials from both countries in the last 48 hours leading up to the announcement, which includes India’s Prime Minister Narenda Modi and Pakistan’s PM Shehbaz Sharif.

Mr Rubio added:

“We commend Prime Ministers Modi and Sharif on their wisdom, prudence, and statesmanship in choosing the path of peace.”
