Muhammad Naveed appointed as New chairman PTA

Federal cabinet on Wednesday announced that Muhammad naveed will be appointed as PTA (Pakistan telecommunication authority) finance member. It was also decided that finance member will also work as new acting chairman of PTA.

Prime minister Shahid khaqan abbasi conduct a meeting of federal cabinet on Wednesday in which they authorize new acting chairman for three months. Government said that it is necessary to fill the position for time being until they find out new regular chairman of Pakistan telecommunication authority.

Muhammad naveed is a chartered accountant by profession, and before this post he was associated with  Alcatel Lucent for 18 years. Then he maintained CFO position for several Alcatel Lucent for the past ten years, and had been working for both Saudi Arab and Pakistan.

Yesterday, Islamabad high court had given orders that Mr Abdul samad will take charge of PTA, but with today’s notification it is said that Muhammad naveed will take possesion of new PTA. Moreover, pakistan telecommunication authority comprises of three member, first is Member finance, second is Member technical and member compliance. Usually member technical is the Chairman of PTA, but somehow government has arranged new finance member and make him acting chairman for three months. Whereas federal cabinet advertised vacancy for regular Member finance.

Time period of former chairman Ismail shah ended on 13 November, and former finance member tariq sultan completed its four year period. For now this post is not filled because government is unable to select a candidate. Several candidates have been shortlisted and soon government will appoint suitable person after due processes.
