PM Approved Panel for Appointments for Pakistan Digital Authority

According to the Digital Nation Pakistan Act, 2025, the Prime Minister has granted permission for the establishment of a Search and Selection Panel that will select the Chairperson along with two members of the Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA).

The list of members and purpose of the panel were officially approved by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) through a notification.

It is stated in the notice that the Federal Minister for IT and Telecom, Shiza Fatima has been nominated as the convener of the committee.

There are many prominent personalities among the members which includes Salman Akhtar, a member of the PRAL Board, the Secretaries of the Establishment Division, Cabinet Division, and IT & Telecom Division, as well as the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, Minister of State for Railways, Finance, and PMDU Bilal Azhar Kayani.

The job of the panel is to find and shortlist qualified applicants for the three open positions for Pakistan Digital Authority. Based on their credentials and experience, it will suggest three applicants to the prime minister for each post.

For the chosen Chairperson and Members, the same committee will also suggest compensation packages and other perks.

In accordance with the notification, the panel possesses the ability to engage in discussions with the applicants who were selected with the goal to reach agreements on the terms and circumstances of their job.

These selections are a part of the operationalization process of Pakistan Digital Authority. It is believed to be essential to the execution of the digital governance as well as the regulatory framework of Pakistan.
