Meta Aims to Develop ‘Superintelligence’ to Surpass Human Brain

On Tuesday, it was published on The New York Times that, Meta is currently preparing to open a new AI research facility, which will focus entirely on developing “superintelligence,” which is a sophisticated AI system that can even beat the human brain.

This step plays a major part in plan of Meta to keep a competitive advantage in the constantly changing competition for technology.

The creator and CEO of Scale AI, Alexandr Wang, was recruited by Meta to handle operations in the new lab. It is believed that proficiency of Wang in artificial intelligence will be essential to the advancement of this big endeavor.

Additionally, Meta is negotiating a billion-dollar investment in Scale AI, with the intention of incorporating Scale’s talent into Meta’s workforce as part of the agreement.

Supposedly, Meta has promised dozens of researchers from well-known AI companies, such as OpenAI and Google, tempting salary packages that range from seven to nine figures in order to support its AI initiatives to developing superintelligence.

A number of researchers have said yes to join hands with the organization, contributing their knowledge to Meta’s new AI-focused project.

In last couple of years, Meta, the company that owns Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and numerous other significant platforms, has experienced internal issues such as poor product releases, staff turnover, and management conflicts.

Reorganization and the new lab are perceived as attempts to revive its AI strategy and recover momentum in the cutthroat tech sector.
