Govt Will Provide 500,000 Google and Microsoft Certification

Leading international tech firms, like as Google and Microsoft, have established certification programs in Pakistan to assist close the skills gap, according to Federal Minister for IT Shaza Fatima Khawaja.

The Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology was told Monday that the federal government will introduce artificial intelligence (AI) education at the primary school level and offer IT certification from Google and Microsoft to 500,000 youth this year as part of a significant digital skills initiative.

AI will also be taught in schools, she continued, giving kids the opportunity to start learning skills that will be useful in the future at a young age.

According to Shaza Fatima, a committee organized by the prime minister is looking into the curriculum to determine how to incorporate IT instruction at the school level.

Shaza Fatima went on to demand accountability in higher education, saying that colleges should face consequences if their IT graduates are unable to find work. She suggested that financing for these colleges be discontinued by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

The committee also discussed the appointment procedure for the position of Director General of International Coordination during the meeting.

Shaza Fatima explained that even though the present employee was rehired, the position was re-advertised to guarantee openness and provide prospective candidates an equal chance. More than 1,400 individuals applied for the position.

She clarified that the DG job is intended for mid-to-senior career professionals, not young graduates, in response to Senator Manzoor Kakar’s worries about the lack of room for fresh talent.
