The opening of the first artificial intelligence (AI) doctor clinic in Saudi Arabia represents a significant advancement in medical technology worldwide.
An AI clinic was launched in Saudi Arabia, April 2025 as a result of a partnership with Shanghai-based Synyi AI and Saudi Arabia’s Almoosa Health Group. The pilot clinic presents “Dr. Hua,” a virtual doctor driven by artificial intelligence, which is located in the eastern Al Ahsa district.
Ever since its establishment in 2016, more than 800 hospitals and medical facilities in China have worked with Synyi AI. This project is the company’s first international endeavor.
To interact with its patients, Dr. Hua uses tablet-based consultations. The patients put in their symptoms, and the AI physician evaluates diagnostic information, such as X-rays and ECGs, and creates a treatment plan after asking follow-up questions. Each treatment plan is analyzed and authorized by a human physician who is licensed as part of a hybrid strategy that combines human oversight with AI speed.
Synyi AI CEO Zhang Shaodian emphasized the leap forward in capability:
“AI has traditionally assisted doctors. Now, we are taking the final step—allowing AI to diagnose and treat directly.”
Internal testing indicates that the AI system’s error rate is less than 0.3%, highlighting its dependability. As of right now, Dr. Hua can only diagnose and treat 30 respiratory disorders, including pharyngitis and asthma. Within a year, the clinic intends to broaden its scope to encompass up to 50 conditions in the gastrointestinal, dermatological, and respiratory domains.
During the trial period, the service is provided without charge while it gathers diagnostic information for assessment by Saudi health authorities. After regulatory approval, full commercial deployment will take place.
Additionally, Synyi AI intends to extend the AI clinic model to additional Saudi Arabian and Middle Eastern hospitals.
