For spreading misinformation and anti-Pakistan propaganda, PTA has blocked Indian media, which includes more than 32 websites, 31 YouTube video links, and 16 Indian YouTube news channels.
The telecom regulator said in a statement that this step was made to preserve Pakistan’s digital ecosystem and national security in view of the current regional scenario.
This action has been taken in light of the prevailing regional situation to safeguard national security and protect Pakistan’s digital ecosystem, the telecom regulator said in a statement.
It was discovered that the prohibited content was disseminating damaging and false narratives meant to sway public opinion and threaten national cohesion.
Hence, PTA has blocked Indian media, and this action is a part of PTA’s ongoing efforts to ensure responsible use of digital platforms and fight misinformation.
PTA stated that it is still dedicated to providing telecom users in Pakistan with a safe, reliable, and secure online environment.
It further stated that the Authority will keep a close eye on internet content and take decisive action against any content that jeopardizes the nation’s interests.
