A group of hackers from Pakistan has initiated “Operation Salar.” It is a coordinated cyber strike, as a result of a rapid growth in digital tensions between India and Pakistan. The key objective of the offensive is to take action against what they claim are ongoing Indian cyberattacks and digital propaganda.
The campaign, according to sources, is a direct reaction to recent cyberattacks by Indian organizations and claims of human rights abuses in Indian-occupied Kashmir.
In order to show what they are capable of, the hackers supposedly planted the Pakistani flag on four major websites of India as part of the initial wave of attacks and took important data.
Operation Salar marks the start of a larger cyberwarfare, which its designers have described as “a warning, not the end.” The hackers make it clear that their goal is to combat anti-Pakistan narratives and protect Pakistan’s digital sovereignty.
Under the hashtag #OperationSalar, the operation has garnered a lot of support on social media, with individuals urging more extensive digital attacks on Indian defense, media, and financial targets.
One hacker said:
“Pakistan is a peace-loving nation but if anyone challenges our sovereignty and national dignity, we won’t stay silent.”
According to reports, cybersecurity organizations in both nations are on high alert as experts caution that the digital standoff may worsen over the next several days.
