HBL-P@SHA ICT Awards: IT Minister Lauds Event for Promoting Industry

On Monday at a nearby hotel in Islamabad, the famous HBL-P@SHA ICT Awards 2024 were joyously held by the Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA), the leading representative organization of Pakistan’s booming IT industry.

All while Made in Pakistan was being promoted, businesses that have been providing outstanding service and innovation in Pakistan’s IT industry were addressed and applauded by this event.

The Chief Guest of the event was Shaza Fatima Khwaja, the Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication. Among the other outstanding attendees, prominent figures, government officials, ambassadors, leading professionals from the IT business, and startups were also present.

In Pakistan’s IT sector, the most creative solutions were acknowledged and recognized by the respected HBL-P@SHA ICT Awards 2024. In a number of elite categories, such as student innovation, business services, consumers, and inclusion & community, the event gave out 33 gold awards and 47 merit awards. This year, over 1,198 applications were submitted to P@SHA for these prestigious awards, an enormous response. To find the greatest talent in the nation, 15 demanding judging cycles were conducted by seasoned professionals in the business.

Minister of State for IT & Telecom Shaza Fatima Khwaja thanked P@SHA and HBL for putting together this esteemed event and for their ongoing efforts to advance the IT sector in Pakistan during her remarks as the Chief Guest.

“The HBL-P@SHA ICT Awards highlight the creativity and excellence of our software and service companies, providing local, regional, and international visibility. These awards empower our innovators, startups, and students to showcase their talents globally, including at the Asia-Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards.”

Highlighting the role of P@SHA and the importance of the awards, the Minister of State said P@SHA plays a vital role in creating Pakistan’s digital future, fostering innovation and advancement in the IT and telecom sectors.

She stated, “Recognizing and supporting our software and service companies is critical for sustaining growth and positioning Pakistan on the global technology map. The HBL-P@SHA ICT Awards are vital in this mission, celebrating innovation and promoting #MakeInPakistan.”

Shaza Fatima commended all of the finalists and winners, noting that their commitment to excellence and inventiveness are advancing technology and serving as an inspiration to upcoming generations of leaders.
“Together, we are building a brighter, more innovative future for Pakistan’s IT sector.”

This time, participants heard about government plans for the IT sector from State Minister Shaza Fatima.

P@SHA Chairman Muhammad Zohaib Khan said while giving a speech in the event, “It has always been our effort to reach every forum of the government to fulfill the legitimate demands of the IT companies in the country. SIFC’s full support was received, which is the reason why IT export graphs are constantly rising and setting new records these days.”

Zohaib went on to say that P@SHA is advancing Pakistan’s digital economy, fostering trust, and promoting expansion in the digital sphere.
P@SHA has proven vital in molding the nation’s technological future by providing thousands of employment possibilities and lobbying for a more efficient and transparent government.

Pakistan’s IT exports have increased significantly and steadily over the last few quarters thanks to the association’s efforts; they have now reached $3.22 billion this year and are still rising, which is a strong reflection of the industry’s potential and durability.

Chairman P@SHA extended congratulations to the winners, recognizing their outstanding contributions.

“Today, we celebrate the best of Pakistan’s IT industry, honoring, recognizing, and empowering growth, and proudly promoting the ‘Made in Pakistan’ brand.”

Abrar Ahmed Mir, Chief Innovation & Financial Inclusion Officer, HBL, commented on this and said,

“HBL’s partnership with P@SHA has been a catalyst for the growth of Pakistan’s IT industry. Through collaborative efforts, we’ve not only nurtured local talent but also provided a global platform for Pakistani IT companies to showcase their capabilities. The HBL P@SHA ICT awards stand as a testament to the exceptional innovation and dedication of our industry, inspiring future generations to contribute to Pakistan’s digital revolution.

P@SHA Secretary General Nadeem Aslam thanked everyone for coming and reiterated P@SHA’s dedication to promoting expansion in Pakistan’s IT industry and digital economy.

It is noteworthy to state that these companies have won awards and will now represent Pakistan on the international platform at the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards later this year in Brunei Darussalam, bringing pride to the country.
