The government of Punjab has introduced a significant upgrade in its pension system by full digitization of pension registers with a new e-pension system.
Regarding the Punjab Pension Rules, a Gazette notification has been released, indicating a major transformation from conventional paper-based procedures to an entirely digital system.
The traditional term “Pension Papers” will be replaced under the new system by “E-Pension Papers.” In addition to this, the application procedure has gone digital, and medical certifications are now called “e-medical certificates.”
This change is part of the Punjab Civil Servants Act of 1974’s major modifications, which also aimed to simplify and modernize the pension management. To formally announce these modifications, a Gazette Notification has been published by the Secretary of the Finance Department Punjab.
