FBR introduces RIMS to check Restaurant Sales

Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has introduced a new system to maintain check and balance on restaurant sales. It is an invoice management system called as Restaurant invoice management system (RIMS). RIMS will ensure and monitor sales on daily basis and register’s real time.

This will not only decrease human interference or manual registration of records but also allow transparency in tax collection. The launching event was attended by officials including Senator Haroon Akhtar who serves as a special assistant to the Prime Minister on Revenue, Khurram Khan, the representative from restaurant association and Amir Waheed president of ICCI.

The primary function of web-based RIMS is to make easier way for taxpayers, so that they can check current and previous collections before giving tax. This technology is by far the most progressive, advanced and most wanted thing in these days where data can alter or sabotaged easily.

RIMS has been installed in more than 80 famous restaurants all over Islamabad. Moreover, the computer system of these restaurants will be synchronized with FBR head office or Pakistan Revenue Automation Ltd (PRAL) through which FBR will collect data in real-time and on daily basis.

Some of the various restaurants where FBR recently installed RIMS include Hang Chen, BBQ Bazar, Cafe Aylanto, Table Talk and 1969 restaurant.

Furthermore, PRAL is also planning to install RIMS in other cities of Pakistan like Lahore and Karachi so that they can collectively check restaurants sales and can do more accurate and efficient tax collection.
