PTA Banned Blackberry Enterprise Service in Pakistan

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has asked cellular companies to stop offering Blackberry Enterprise Service to Corporate Customers. PTA told that this action is based upon security reasons.

This decision will not affect Blackberry Internet Services which can be used as it is. Blackberry Enterprise Service are only blocked which cannot be used further.

This decision to block Blackberry Enterprise Services (BES) was taken on orders from interior ministry as the BES service is encrypted and cannot be decrypted which could be used for terrorist activity.

There are only few telecom companies and few clients of this service in Pakistan and now they have been stopped to provide or use this service any further. Last date given by PTA to close these services for its corporate customers is 30 November 2015.
