Authorities of Peshawar Suspended Mobile Phone Services

Authorities of Peshawar decided to stop mobile phone services on the 9th and 10th of Muharram as part of increased security measures during the Muharram.

A police spokeswoman stated that the suspension of mobile phone services in Peshawar will start today, the 8th of Muharram, after Friday prayers and last until 10 PM on Sunday, the night of Ashura.

The main objective of the initiative is to avoid any unfortunate events throughout the religious observance and to improve security along the routes of mourning processions, particularly in vulnerable places.

The suspension of mobile service, according to police officials, is a preventative measure to guarantee safety and tranquility around the city.

To closely monitor the processions, the officials are also utilizing better surveillance approaches, which involve the deployment of drone cameras, CCTV monitoring, and other contemporary technologies.

During this time, security personnel will be on high alert, and for their own protection, civilians are asked to assist law enforcement.
