During an event in New York today, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note9 and Galaxy Watch, its brand new smartwatch. Presented as “an evolution of Gear S3,” the watch running under Tizen OS 4.0 is equipped with an eSIM, that is to say a virtual SIM card that allows you to use it without having your smartphone nearby. It is development to bring the company closer to the Apple’s Watch.
The design of the watch has been modified and the device seems more sober and distinguished. Particularly of the dial whose finish gives a more upscale and traditional look to the whole. It can even reproduce the sound of the second hand for more realism.
It comes in two sizes: a case in 42mm which is Carbon Black and Imperial Gold and a case in 46mm of Steel Gray. Everything is of course well-matched with many different straps.
According to the report, the smaller 42mm model only has a 270mAh battery, while the larger 46mm Watch can hit the six-day mark before its 472mAh cell needs to recharge.
The time reading comfort will be most favorable in day and night as it is equipped with a Super AMOLED display. It will be possible to connect your Bluetooth headphones and enjoy your favorite music, stored locally or via your Spotify playlists.
It also incorporates the Always On function, which allows displaying the dial permanently in color. The device is also equipped with a GPS chip, an altimeter and a barometer. The Galaxy Watch offers a follow-up of the physical activities and integrates more than forty different sports. It is easy to switch from one to the other if you do several activities.
The new Galaxy Watch is waterproof up to 50 meters; suitable for both swimmers and marathoners. It measures the heart rate, the quality of sleep and offers new features such as breathing exercises to offer personalized advice.
The My Day feature allows you to enter information for the day, such as weather, activities, and reminders. In the evening, it gives statistics of the day and the program for next day.
From August 22 to September 6, if you pre-order a Galaxy Watch the duo wireless charger for charging two devices simultaneously will be offered. The Galaxy Watch will be available from September 7th.
