After the official account of Pakistan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs on X was hacked overnight, on Friday they stated that they have effectively recovered its official X (previously Twitter) account.
A spokesperson of the ministry stated that opposed groups had hacked the account and posted disputable material about the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan. They also said not to worry as they have recovered the account of Pakistan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs on X.
The spokesperson claimed that the post was meant to defame Pakistan in the eyes of international organizations. It has nothing to do with the ministry.
The spokesperson stated:
“The enemy hacked the account and posted inappropriate content concerning Pakistan-India tensions. It was a deliberate attempt to damage Pakistan’s reputation globally.”
The spokesman added that the account has been temporarily suspended as a security measure and that the contentious post has been taken down.
The ministry attributed the threat’s successful neutralization to the prompt collaboration between its staff and pertinent government agencies.
The spokesperson also said:
“Through joint efforts, the conspiracy to defame Pakistan was effectively foiled,”
