Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme – All you need to know

PM Laptop Scheme

The “PM Laptop Scheme” program is an initiative promoted by the ex-Prime Minister of Pakistan “Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif” that seeks to reduce the digital divide and deliver tools that support the learning of public education students in 2013. It was the part of Prime Minister’s Youth Program. During the year 2013-14, 7,176 students from all over the country received a laptop computer with Internet access for one year under the phase-1 of the scheme. However, the current government of Pakistan abolished this scheme temporarily.

Objective

Prime Minister believes that this innovative and generous scholarship will lead to greater academic success among our low-income students. He believes that this segment of our student population will achieve higher rates of retention and completion of their studies. A greater number of students who obtain degrees and take care of family support or who seek more education will have a positive impact on the development of Pakistan. No student can thrive in today’s connected world without the basic need for a laptop, a tool for success and inclusion in the digital world.

Institutes administrators also expect the program to become a means to reduce the overall technology costs of the institution. Putting technology in the hands of more students could reduce the need to build and maintain expensive computer labs on campus.

Prime Minister also gave 4G internet devices to students with low price internet packages only for students. These devices are providing a good internet speed to the students. They can check their internet speed from Ptcl Speed Test tool.
